In search of prime spring singletrack and race suffering, 5 GAS racers made the trip to Spokane for "Beacon and Legs".  Laps were seven miles of what felt like 99% climbing with some fun descending mixed in.  The terms "bermapocalypse" and "totally rad" were thrown around.

There was a great turnout with lots of starters in every field, and despite the downpour experienced during the drive over, trail conditions were excellent.

Nate Lovallo and Rachael Bernt contested the Cat 2 Races, and Rachael came away second fastest on the day in her field.  Nate took another ill-advised holeshot, but then had some mechanical trouble and also decided to miss the lap chute in a moment of race-induced oxygen deprivation.

John Curry and Lisa Curry of course contested the Pro Races. Victory in the men's race went to an evergreen Kevin Bradford Parrish (anyone who has watched the pro race at rolling thunder will recognize the name) and John was able to win a hard fought battle for second with a Washington wonder junior.  Lisa also had a strong race and toughed out a wicked battle with a "wrong turn" and "poor air quality".

Surprise of the day was new GAS recruit Lauren Kuennen, who finished as the fastest woman of the day in her first XC race ever(!!!!!).  Look out!!!
Vicious Cycle put on a great event. Highly recommended.  See you all at Scratchgravel in a couple weeks!?
