Sunday, Feb 23rd was the annual Make Tracks for Trails, the Gallatin Valley Land Trust fundraiser ski-a-thon event.  This year the ski venue was again to be Lindley Park and theEast Highland Glen trail system.  In 2013, the event moved from Bohart Ranch to Lindley, but there were no complaints as we enjoyed near perfect skiing conditions with fresh snow, cold temps, and sunny skies.

This year we got those conditions plus Wind.  Our 2013-14 ski season has so far been plagued by wind, so I guess it was fitting to have breezy conditions on the day when we were going to ski over 50kms.  Though we hoped for some classic skiing conditions, the tracks were full of spin drift and skate skiing was the best style for the day.

GAS / Intrinsik Architecture racers Alex Lussier, Amy Chiuchiolo, Rob Knapp, Seb White, Bill Cochran and Tasha Patrin were there to participate.  The first four complied a team for the Golden Ski competition which is won by the team with the highest combined score for total $ raised, total # of pledges and total # of kms skied. This year we raised $3200, received nearly 100 pledges and skied just over 210kms.  Our total score positioned us in 1st place for the event moving the Golden Ski back to GAS / Intrinsik Racing team.  It was a good day out.  We had a great time skiing and raising funds for the Gallatin Valley Land Trust town trail system.  Thank you to our donors and those who came up to ski with us.

Enjoy your trails!
