In the middle of the 2010 cross season, I got this race report from Alex Schoenfelder, and I totally forgot to post it. My apology Alex! Finally here it is.

During mid September I was down in Colorado racing and riding. I raced at two venues during my time there. The first race was The Winter Park Pursuit and the second was The Fall Classic. Both of these races were very fun to pre-ride (in the dark) and the courses are pretty technical!!!!!

The Winter Park Pursuit race probably went the best of the two races, the cross country had quite a bit of climbing and the cat 1 / pro men did two laps. The downhill was really cool with lots of berms and some creek crossings!!! There was some awesome sections of loose that could be launched, so much fun. I was riding in 9th place until I made two silly mistakes that cost me two places!!! But I did get to do a superman!!! The short track was brutal (when is it not?) with a long climb that was exposed to the wind!!!That was painful!! I rode near the back but finished 5th out of 7 riders!! Not the best but I did have fun riding wheelies across the finish line every lap!!

The Fall Classic stage race took place mid September!!!! The Fall Classic started with circuit race went the best of the three short races with my finish of 7th out of twelve riders. The race was up and down all the time, but not massive climbs. The race lasted only 50 minutes. This was the coolest race of the weekend!!!! Immediately following the circuit race there was a hill climb that took about 25 minutes. The Cross Country was the most brutal course I have ever seen!!!!! It was 32 miles with 5500 feet of climbing!!! There is a massive climb about 9 miles into the race that takes about 30 minutes that totally killed me at the top! The rest of the race was pure pain to the finish but in the best way!!!!! Not the best way to end the season with a last place but it was a really great course!!! This is the epic XC race of my season!!!

This sums up my Colorado trip, brutal and epic all at the same time!!!!! Both of these races were quality events that are well worth going to!!!! Racing rocks!!!!
